Welcome! This monthly newsletter is intended to share current mental health counseling resources with my community. With each post I hope to offer relevant material for you to dive deeper for your own exploration. Some months that may be information I’ve curated through my website, reesewells.com. Other months it may be external links to resources across the web.

Please note that this platform is not HIPPA-compliant, and therefore your presence on this newsletter (likes, shares, subscription, etc) is not confidential. If confidentiality is important to you, I encourage you to reach out to me directly through reesewells.com and I will be happy to share the content of this post with you through email.

So who am I? My name is Reese Wells, LCMHCA, NCC, MA. I am a mental health counselor and clinically trained body-mind therapist. I work with adults and adolescents struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and emotional management, especially anger. My focus is on mindfulness and present-moment awareness. I believe in growth within safe, non-judgmental relationships where my clients feel empowered to experience new perspectives, opportunities, and healing. My approach is rooted in trust and collaboration. I value authenticity and bring my true self into this work.

Joe is a blue heeler and a certified Canine Good Citizen. His therapeutic approach is grounded in play & pets. He believes that every person who wants love from a dog deserves it. He is a part of LWC Therapies to offer unconditional support and joy.

We live in Asheville, NC. Our practice is based in West Asheville. I offer telehealth counseling services across North Carolina and coaching services to clients across the country. When I am not working, I am likely in wilderness spaces like the Linville Gorge, featured above.

This Newsletter:

The purpose of this newsletter is to offer you synthesized resources related to mental health counseling. These resources will likely come in the form of:

  1. Book Reviews: I am a big fan of bibliotherapy. At any point in time I’m reading two books related to self-work. In these newsletters I hope to review meaningful texts and offer my thoughts on the subject matter, as well as direct you to the most affordable options for reading yourself.

  2. Article Reviews: There is so much research being published about mental health counseling. My hope is to curate and share important research findings related to mindfulness-based counseling techniques and modalities.

  3. Podcast Episodes: My podcast, the Counseling Connection, discusses current research, offers psychoeducation, and conducts interviews from researchers and prominent members in the helping professions.

  4. Mindfulness & Breathwork Exercises: As both a clinically trained body-mind counselor and yoga instructor, I love sharing tools related to mindfulness and breathwork. My hope is to offer a video or audio clip in each newsletter that demonstrates a different technique. I will also share meaningful teachings from other mindfulness practitioners in case you’d like to deep dive on your own.

  5. LWC Classroom Updates: I created the LWC Therapies Classroom to provide my clients and community with evidence-based research that focuses on internal experience within interpersonal relationships. The classroom is appropriate for anyone wanting to learn about their stress, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting issues, anger management, and depression. It is updated regularly with new and relevant content. Because this represents a tremendous amount of work, I have chosen to have it available for a small monthly or annual membership fee (current clients get free access). However, if you are uncomfortable with this pricing, please contact me through reesewells.com and I will be happy to provide you with a discount code.
